About Tithes
Children of God are required to pay their tithes and offerings to God. The principle has a history that is dated to the period of Abraham in the Old Testament. The patriarch paid his tithe to Priest Melchizedek has illustrated in the scripture,
“For this Melchizedek, king of Salem, priest of the Most High God, who met Abraham returning from the slaughter of the kings and blessed him, to whom also Abraham gave a tenth part of all, first being translated “king of righteousness,” and then also king of Salem, meaning “king of peace” (Hebrews 7:1-2; Genesis 14:18-20).
Lesson:
God established a rule which required all his children to pay their tithes into his own house (Malachi 3:10). We must obey this rule to please God. We must bring our tithes and offerings to our home churches where we worship God. Once we obey God, multiple blessings will overtake our lives, and we would not remain the same again. However, any attempt to disobey the requirement of paying tithe and offering may lead to a negative consequence. God may withhold our due benefits - which would cause us significant loss. Therefore, every Christian should prioritize paying his tithe and offering to his primary place of worship. Jehovah who reserves the bank of blessings with surely multiply his riches in the lives of people who honor him.
Prayer:
Dear God, I understand that it is mandatory for me to pay my tithe and offering in my church; I am determined to start doing so. I am sorry for my past failures, but as from now, things will change, and I will pay my tithe consistently! I will pay your dues, so that you can pay my due benefits also! Please give me grace to stay consistent, and teach me how to trust you for my provisions. Please meet me in every area of my need. For in the name of Jesus Christ I make my requests. Amen.
