Watch Your Tongue, Mind Your Words
August 15 - Devotion
It is sinful to offer preferential treatment for anyone. God requires that his children desist from segregation and treat other people equally. The scripture stated,
“If you really fulfill the royal law according to the Scripture, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself,” you do well; but if you show partiality, you commit sin, and are convicted by the law as transgressors” (James 2:8-9).
A person who gives preferential treatment is an unjust person, and God would not exonerate him or her from his judgment. God’s children must love people equally and treat them equally. No one is allowed to favor the rich at the expense of poor people. No one should respect people of influence and disregard common people. God made all people, and we are equal in his presence. He sends his rain to every land and every people without partiality. Therefore, if God is so generous and impartial, his children must be impartial also. Anyone – whether Christian or not – who segregates will suffer a severe punishments from God.
Dear God, please help me to treat other people fairly and equally. Do not let me give preferential treatment to anyone, but help me to treat everyone with respect and love. Let me apply godly fear to whatever I do so that I can receive your blessings and not curses. Let me be a channel of blessing to all people so that your name can be praised at all times. For in the name of Jesus Christ I make my requests. Amen.
