There Is Joy In Heaven Over A Sinner That Repents
Jesus Christ preached on forgiveness and he narrated the story of a Prodigal Son to support his sermon. The Prodigal Son inherited his father while he was still alive. He pestered his father until he gave him his inheritance. Meanwhile, the boy took all his riches to a foreign land where he lavished them within a short time. However, he eventually realized his mistakes and decided to come back home. He sought his father’s forgiveness, and his father responded well. His father said,
“Bring out the best robe and put it on him, and put a ring on his hand and sandals on his feet. And bring the fatted calf here and kill it, and let us eat and be merry; for this my son was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.’ And they began to be merry” (Luke 15:22-24).
Lesson:
God will gladly forgive any sinner who repents from his or her sins and turns to him. In fact, both God and his angels will wear their dancing shoes, and they will rejoice for the fellow. Jesus said, “I say to you that likewise there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine just persons who need no repentance” (Luke 15:7).
Prayer:
Dear God, I know that you love sinners but you hate their sins; therefore, I am determined to forsake my sins and come to you. I am sorry for all my past mistakes, and I repent from them. From now on, I will serve you with all my heart and all my strength. I will do my best to obey your instructions and please you. Please write my name in the book of life, and count me worthy to partake in your kingdom. For in the name of Jesus Christ I make my requests. Amen.
