Salvation Is By Confession

Jesus Christ emphasized that the door of his kingdom may not be opened to just anyone who claims to be a Christian. The Savior emphasized that not everyone who calls him Lord would be allowed to enter heaven – except those who strive hard in their Christian race. Jesus said,

“Strive to enter through the narrow gate, for many, I say to you, will seek to enter and will not be able. When once the Master of the house has risen up and shut the door, and you begin to stand outside and knock at the door, saying, ‘Lord, Lord, open for us,’ and He will answer and say to you, ‘I do not know you, where you are from,’ then you will begin to say, ‘We ate and drank in Your presence, and You taught in our streets.’ But He will say, ‘I tell you I do not know you, where you are from. Depart from me, all you workers of iniquity.’ There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth, when you see Abraham and Isaac and Jacob and all the prophets in the kingdom of God, and yourselves thrust out. They will come from the east and the west, from the north and the south, and sit down in the kingdom of God. And indeed there are last who will be first, and there are first who will be last” (Luke 13:24-30).

Lesson:

Salvation is easy to describe: It is a means of escape that Jesus Christ offered (with his life) to rescue sinners from the punishments of hell fire. Meanwhile, a person can only be saved when he/she personally accept Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. Hence, it must be conceived that salvation is personal; it cannot be inherited, and it cannot be obtained on behalf of other fellows. Everyone must personally confess Jesus Christ and accept him as Lord to be accepted into God’s kingdom. However, it is possible for someone to regularly go to church and yet not saved. No person is awarded salvation through Christian activities – everyone must personally confess his or her faith in Jesus Christ to be saved!

Prayer:

Dear Lord, I believe that Jesus Christ is your Son that is sent from heaven to save people from punishments of hell fire; therefore, I profess my faith in him. I confess that Jesus Christ died for my sins, and he rose from the dead to give me eternal life. Hence, I accept him as my personal Lord and Savior. I also confess my sins, and I forsake them. I believe that I am now a born again Christian and I promise to faithfully serve God for the rest of my life. Amen.
