Do Not Abuse God’s Grace
God promised to bless Manoah’s family with a Nazirite child that would deliver Israelites from their oppression. God’s angel said to Manoah’s wife,
“For behold, you shall conceive and bear a son. And no razor shall come upon his head, for the child shall be a Nazirite to God from the womb; and he shall begin to deliver Israel out of the hand of the Philistines.” (Judges 13:5).
The child was born and he was named Samson. He grew up to become a judge in Israel, and God anointed him with extraordinary strength. He killed a lion with his bare hands, and he also killed some 1000 enemies with an ordinary jawbone of a donkey. When thirsty after a battle, Samson prayed to God for water supply– and God answered him instantly. Jehovah used an earthquake to shift earth formations, and the faults instantly gushed out water for Samson to drink – so that he could quench his thirst.
Lesson:
As far as God is concerned, wonders shall never end! He will perform wonders through his anointed servants, and he will ensure that his name is praised throughout the world. Meanwhile, God’s servants are to understand that their selections are not made by the virtue of their righteousness. God who calls has his own special reasons for awarding specific talents and grace to anyone; therefore, all servants of God must be humble and be careful not to abuse his grace and talents.
Prayer:
Dear God, please do not let your wonders cease in my life. Let me obtain your grace so that I can be selected for special assignments that would glorify your name throughout the world. Once I am anointed, please keep me humble so that I can be used immensely, and so that your name can be glorified more than ever before. For in the name of Jesus Christ I make my requests. Amen.
