A Person Of Charitable Heart Will Enjoy God
Nehemiah heard about the uncomfortable situation of Israelites (his people), and he was sad. His noble cities (including Jerusalem) and their dwellers were in distress. The news caused Nehemiah to pray and fast for God's intervention. The Bible reported, “....Hanani one of my brethren came with men from Judah; and I asked them concerning the Jews who had escaped, who had survived the captivity, and concerning Jerusalem. And they said to me,
“The survivors who are left from the captivity in the province are there in great distress and reproach. The wall of Jerusalem is also broken down, and its gates are burned with fire.” So it was, when I heard these words, that I sat down and wept, and mourned for many days; I was fasting and praying before the God of heaven” (Nehemiah 1:2-4).
God responded to Nehemiah’s request and granted him grace before a gentile king to return home to rebuild his homeland.
Lesson:
God loves people that help others. He greatly delights in a person who seeks the good welfare of others. Jehovah will bless and honor such a person and ensure he (or she) is not ashamed. People who are kind and graceful towards others will have their faces beautified with wonderful rewards. Although they may have their brief moment of hardship on earth they will ultimately prevail. Jehovah will lift up kindhearted people so that they can be encouraged in their good works. A person of a charitable heart will enjoy God's benefits in this life and the one to come. Their succeeding generations will also reap good rewards for their labor! No good thing will be found wanting for a person whose heart is fully committed to God and fully represent Jesus Christ in the lives of others. God will honor them always.
Prayer:
Dear God, please give me a heart that cares and helps other people. Let me be part of someone else's solution. Enable me with grace to make positive contributions to other people's lives. Let me be a problem solver and not a problem contributor! Enable me with grace to be your true ambassador on earth, so that your name can be praised in the land of the living. (Please address my own personal problems also so that I can have more reasons to serve you). For in the name of Jesus Christ I make my requests. Amen.
